Project Home Reviews

New Home Review site

Well the idea of the New Home Review site is taking shape.  For those who aren't familiar with the concept, I'm planning to build out a resource for new home builders and buyers.  It was due to our own problems as we found it so hard to find information about the various builders, about the various floor plans, who builds where, what the process was and what we may need.  And from a business point of view we figured that building companies may be interested in getting in front of clients that may not even know about them!  Other auxiliary services could also advertise for services and products which will help the home buyer finish their house.

There are plenty of DIY and renovation sites already in the market but for new home builders the information is scattered everywhere.  We want this to be definitive site for New Home builders or New Home buyers.  It's hard to land on which term works best but I'm sure over time we'll work it out :)

We went and did a bit of a trial run on Saturday to see if we can do decent photography or what we would need in order to take good photographs.  We'll definitely need a wide angle lens!

Metricon has some amazing photographs on their website -- and they do a great job with the decoration of their houses -- so a good site to try and emulate for their photography skills.

Interestingly enough there were a few display homes we've never been into at the Hermitage display village and so we popped into a couple including Trevelle and Hotondo.  One of the Trevelle Homes was just depressing -- and it was all down to the decor!  I'm sure if the same stylist that did a Metricon house did the one that was depressing it would look so much better.  The other two Trevelle ones were a lot better and even had a black painted room which looked amazing and brave!

The Hotondo one on display was stunning.  Certainly if we had seen that beforehand we'd have considered their house.  But it was very ex-y!  The base house price started at over $300k so chances are we would have eliminated them early on anyway.

Here are some photos of the Hotondo House (Soho Loft 34) taken on my phone (which is not the recommended way to take photos for a website):\

Paneling can look quite nice!
Outdoor deck with pond -- still inspirational for our deck we'll build out the back one day... when we have a house!
Step down into the home theatre!
A bit 80s but the sunken lounge is pretty cool!
Love a study nook where you can be part of the house and still hide the clutter!
