Stegbar and Beaumont Tiles

Today we went out to the Lansvale Stegbar showroom and the Prospect Beaumont Tiles showroom.
Stegbar was to try and look at the product and get more information about the glazing.  Beaumont Tiles was to do our preview.  I'm exhausted and I didn't even do the driving.

Stegbar

We saw the glazing bars in white and played with the stacking doors and he bifold doors.  The bifold doors from Stegbar do feel very good quality wise.  The awning mechanism isn't as nice as the casement may have been but it's probably a good thing we're not going casement anymore as there weren't any examples on display at the showroom.  Pretty poor if you ask me!  The awning window was on a chain mechanism and it works well enough but there is a lot of winding to get it open a decent amount.  Definitely don't want the bezel glass in each pane.

We had a look at the different glass and the grey looks OK if we thought we needed a tint.  I also noticed the white translucent stuff.  I do hope that's what will be in the bathrooms as I think that will give it a bit more of a Japanese look (not that we're going for that look but I do like it anyway).  As an aside I think the look I'm after is a New York Loft style mixed with a Modern Rustic / French Rustic style.  Kinda Pottery Barn meets Sydney cafe!

The translucent one is the bottom left panel
The saleslady had no idea about glazing as she was trying to explain to me that double glazed was just an extra layer of laminate (or at least that's what it sounded like to me!)

We looked at the flyscreens which came with the stacking doors, and they look like they would do the job.
I've used the picture from a normal sliding door (not the stackers) as the stacking one had the security screen look which I am not a fan of.
But what looks a lot better is the retractable flyscreen.  I'm hoping Google has autoawesomed it but... I should be so lucky!
So I think we'll try and get these rather than the ones in the track.  No idea what these may cost but they look pretty good and they are unobtrusive when we have the doors closed or want to open up without a fly screen.

Beaumont Tiles

We then headed off to Beaumont Tiles for a preview.  We thought we'd just choose something similar to the look we have at Howes Valley -- like this:

With the dark brown tiles as floor and a beige colour for the walls.

Surprisingly Beaumont Tiles didn't seem to have that much choice for the dark brown.  So we had to recreate from scratch.  We ended up choosing one tile outside of the Emerald range just to get the dark brown.
We'll do the dark brown floor tiles in the ensuite and the other scheme for the bathroom, laundry and toilet.

We almost went grey tones but that does seem very cold in a bathroom and none of the combinations we came up we liked.  I think we don't like anything too white and nothing too dirty looking or anything too glossy!

We even selected some laminate but when I got home realised it wasn't out of the ranges that we're meant to select from!  Ah well at least we have some idea of the colours we can get at Beaumont Tiles.

So the schemes are:

 Bathroom, Laundry and Toilet

Wall Tiles 49210 Solutions Light Beige
Floor Tiles 49328 Rhyme Mocha Textured
Caesarstone Walnut
Laminate Polytec Soft Walnut Matt (which isn't one of the selections we can choose from *roll eyes*)

Ensuite

Wall Tiles 03264 Euphoria Latte
Floor Tiles 79958 (Red dot range which means it's additional labour) Haven Choc BT GL Porc (as in Porcelain -- which we know is a pain to install as it's harder to drill/cut than the other tiles)
Caesarstone Latte
Laminate Polytec Artisan Oak Matt

The tile I really like the look of is one that looks a bit like driftwood or a fence :)  -- if anyone is reading and is interested in the one on the right below... the code is 79868D Zoclo Brown 200 x 500.
