With my usual optimism I'm going to hope that we'll be getting Practical Completion in two weeks' time. For no real reason except I'm guessing and hoping.
We went out on site today and as we were getting out of the car a tradie turned up. He was the excavator driver from early on in the project as well as the guy that silicons up the expansion joins. I'm not sure if it's silicon or something else. It comes in a tube. It was about 2 minutes work. But then he had to work out how to get in (not realising the code had been changed) - so we let him on site. He had to trek through the mud, check out the work to be done. Go and grab his ladder, and then do his 2 minutes of work and then pack it all up again. But good to see that they are doing doing this now rather than waiting to fix things after practical completion.
So what is Practical Completion? Here's the HIA definition of Practical Completion:
So based on this once the stairs, loos, dishwasher, site clean, underfloor heating control unit and flyscreens are installed we should be at Practical Completion! 2 weeks should be a walk in the park, yes?
I feel like I've been saying "a couple of weeks" for the last 2 months :(
During the week we asked for ANOTHER tap to be installed. $40 to the plumber and we got the one near the mailbox:

Tap, gas path valve etc |
Other than that not much to report. Just mud if you are interested in that type of thing. Lots of mud. Lots and lots of mud. Esp since our trench has been filled in and it's very soft so when you step in it's more like quick sand.
So just a couple of other house related photos...
A possible pergola type option if we decide to cover up the courtyard with something:

Bunnings in a kitchen display |
K-mart had a couple of interesting finds. Most were a bit "meh", but we liked the look of some flasks:

Flasks - vase or possible water carafe |
Gardening is on my mind at the moment. And it looks like we may have ANOTHER bamboo shoot. Although this time it's looking a bit slower in getting going. Unless it's been stopped in it's track due to the weather?

Papaya tree is also wanting to grow some papayas

Grown in a small pot it's broken through into the ground... |

Basil looking fancy and nice before I pillaged for some pizza |
And introducing Pepper. She's now been with us for 6 days after we picked her up from Blacktown Animal Holding Facility. She's a bit puppy like and is for some reason wanting to bark at things like Dyson handheld vacuum cleaners!
