New feature tile

Last weekend we did our tile selection appointment with Di Lorenzo Tiles.

We still have the tiles in the upgrade tower which are included by Sekisui House as per a previous post.  But we have chosen some new feature tiles and upgraded the floor grate for all the bathrooms.  The upgrade cost us $38 but as W says it's something we can't do later after handover.  So we have even upgraded the WC and Laundry, two rooms I thought we could just leave as is.

We had to relook at the feature tiles as the ones we wanted were no longer in stock... so we flicked through the options and I found one I really liked...

The problem is that it wouldn't work with our colours.

We were considering this one:

but it wasn't priced in the system so we had a backup one just in case that one was also discontinued.  I think we'll end up with this one:

We were also asked to choose one for the 'steps' into the house from the entry way and the laundry.  We are still confused if this is for the vertical or horizontal part of the step.  I thought it was the vertical but W thinks it's for the horizontal... which makes sense.  Anyway this is the one we ended up choosing:

The grate we upgraded to was the Bermuda one that is quite popular.  $38 per grate.

The floor tile sits inside the square so it is quite integrated.

We got a quote on Friday with the feature tiles at $30 or $40 per sheet.  We need 3 sheets per bathroom.  So fairly exy stuff.  There is some allowance from Sekisui but it's $6 worth!  Ha!  I wonder what that would cover.  Maybe it's meant to be just normal tile but some 'feature' of it.  Almost like a feature coloured wall?  As the allowance was for .2m2 of it was still at the standard $30 rate (per sqm in this case).

And like most estimating for this build they have added the two options for the sign off form rather than providing two different quotes for us to sign one of.  *sigh*
